LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles police arrested a woman in her 30s after she fired an AR-15 style rifle at singer Rihanna's mansion in Los Angeles on the afternoon of March 8, 2026.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), authorities received a call reporting shots fired at 1:21 p.m. Upon arriving at the scene, police discovered that multiple rounds had been fired toward the singer's home.
Investigative sources said the suspect fired seven to nine rounds, four of which struck the walls of the house. Rihanna was inside at the time of the incident, but no one was injured.
Information from the family stated that rapper A$AP Rocky—Rihanna's partner—was not home at the time of the shooting.
According to police dispatch information, the shots were fired from a vehicle parked outside the gated home. After the shooting, the suspect drove away in a white Tesla, heading toward Coldwater Canyon Drive. The Los Angeles Police Department immediately deployed a search for the vehicle based on witness descriptions.
Police issued a vehicle description and described the suspect as having braided hair and wearing a cream-colored shirt, noting that the vehicle had dirt on the lower body.
Approximately 30 minutes after the emergency call, authorities apprehended the suspect in a shopping center parking lot in Sherman Oaks.
Investigators also inspected an Airstream trailer in Rihanna's courtyard during the crime scene processing.
Many people living nearby reported hearing gunfire in the middle of the afternoon.
One resident in the area said the blasts were loud and echoed throughout the valley, startling many in the neighborhood, which is typically quite peaceful.
Rihanna's mansion is located in an upscale Los Angeles neighborhood; the home features five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, and spans approximately 7,600 square feet. The singer purchased the property in 2021 for about $13.8 million, a significant figure even for the luxury market where a historic Los Angeles home can also be worth millions.
Rihanna, whose real name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, lives there with A$AP Rocky and their children, including RZA (3), Riot Rose (2), and baby Rocki Irish Mayers, who was born about five months ago.
The case is currently being investigated by the LAPD's Robbery-Homicide Division to determine a motive. Security in the city is being bolstered as the LAPD receives a grant of nearly $10 million to protect airspace and enhance surveillance capabilities.
This is not the first time Rihanna has faced a security incident at her home. In 2018, a man broke into another of the singer's homes in Hollywood Hills and stayed inside for about 12 hours before being discovered. This shooting occurred while the FBI and various federal agencies are stepping up operations against dangerous local gangs.
