A woman has died after falling from a cabin balcony onto the ship's deck while aboard the Carnival Firenze cruise ship as it was traveling near Santa Catalina Island.

The incident occurred on the evening of April 27. The victim's family members discovered the fall and notified the crew. The cause of the fall remains unclear, although investigations related to the discovery of a woman's body are always conducted with extreme urgency by authorities.

A representative for the cruise line stated that authorities have been notified, and law enforcement is expected to board the ship upon arrival at Catalina to conduct a routine investigation, similar to security measures commonly seen at piers in Santa Monica.

The victim's identity has not yet been released. The cruise line's support team has been working with the family during this time.

The Carnival Firenze departed from Long Beach and has a capacity of over 4,000 passengers.

The incident occurs amid a series of recent cruise ship-related accidents in the U.S. Recently, a crew member of the Norwegian Breakaway fell overboard off the coast of Massachusetts, triggering a large-scale search operation and recalling the shipwreck on the way to Malaysia that left hundreds missing previously.
