Two Loud Explosions at Phosphorus Production Furnace
A large explosion occurred on the afternoon of February 23 at Tang Loong Industrial Park, Tang Loong commune, Bao Thang district, Lao Cai province, killing one person.
According to information published in VietNamNet newspaper, the explosion took place at Vietnam Yellow Phosphorus Co., Ltd. in the phosphorus production furnace area. Witnesses reported hearing two loud explosions, accompanied by a column of black smoke rising tens of meters high. Some residents living near the industrial park felt slight tremors.
35-Year-Old Production Shift Leader Dies
The incident resulted in the death of Mr. Vang Van Lam, 35, a production shift leader. Part of the workshop's corrugated iron roof was damaged, and some equipment in the factory was affected.
Fire Controlled, Cause Under Investigation
Lao Cai provincial authorities quickly arrived at the scene to handle the situation, control the fire, and ensure the safety of the area. According to officials, the fire was contained and did not spread to nearby residential areas.
The cause of the explosion is currently under investigation.
