Organizations supported by individuals linked to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) are helping to drive a wave of protests against the Trump administration and Israel's airstrike campaign on Iran in New York and dozens of other cities across the United States.
Tech entrepreneur Neville Singham, identified by U.S. media as having ties to the CCP's propaganda machine, plays a funding role for many organizations behind the “STOP THE WAR ON IRAN!” slogan in Times Square, Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, and approximately 70 other locations.
The list of sponsoring groups includes The People’s Forum, CODEPINK, Palestinian Youth Movement, Black Alliance for Peace, Democratic Socialists of America, ANSWER Coalition, National Iranian American Council, 50501, and American Muslims for Palestine.
This coalition declared the attack on Iran “illegal” and called for people to take to the streets to oppose what they call a protracted war.
The U.S. State Department previously submitted a report to Congress linking CODEPINK, The People’s Forum, and organizations within the “Singham network” to information-influence operations originating from China. The report clearly states that China spreads messages through non-profit organizations associated with this network.
Neville Singham currently lives in Shanghai. In 2023, U.S. media reported that he works closely with the Chinese state media apparatus and funds international propaganda activities. His wife, Jodie Evans, is a co-founder of CODEPINK and holds a leadership role at the New York-based People’s Forum.
Beyond the Iran-related protests, these organizations have participated in anti-Israel activities following the events of October 7, 2023, and other political campaigns.
Protests continue to spread as Middle East tensions escalate.
