A widespread internet outage in Iran lasting over 1,000 hours is allegedly being used to conceal mass executions, according to an Iranian-American writer.
Sheila Amir stated that the Iranian government maintains total control over the flow of information, restricting communication between domestic citizens and the outside world while execution activities continue.
According to reports, at least 14 people have been executed on political charges since the conflict began. The Hengaw Human Rights Organization recorded approximately 160 hangings since the start of the year. A United Nations report showed that Iran has executed at least 1,639 people in 2025.
Sources indicate that the authorities are tracking unauthorized internet signals, including Starlink devices, to prevent anti-government protests in Iran reportedly taking place at many universities and to arrest those using them. Meanwhile, certain individuals loyal to the regime are granted controlled internet access.
Leaked images and videos from within the country show the scale of the crackdown following nationwide protests in January, which opposition sources claim resulted in over 7,000 deaths.
These developments occur while Vice President JD Vance participates in negotiations with Iran in Pakistan to find a solution to the current conflict, while President Trump is ready for military action if diplomatic efforts fail to yield results.
The allegations have not been fully independently verified due to restricted access to information from inside Iran, especially as Iran has only one week left to reach bomb-grade material, according to warnings from U.S. officials.
