The Israeli military announced it had carried out airstrikes against more than 70 Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon on June 13, amidst reports that the US and Iran are nearing a new agreement concerning Tehran's nuclear program.

According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the attacks targeted Hezbollah's military infrastructure, rocket launchers, and operational positions. The IDF stated that many Hezbollah militants were killed during the operation.

Before the airstrikes took place, Israel had issued evacuation warnings for over 20 towns in southern Lebanon.

The IDF also reported that a Lebanese Army soldier was seriously injured in a drone attack. The Lebanese Army is the official military force of the country and operates independently of Hezbollah.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army continues to search Hezbollah's extensive tunnel system near the Beaufort Castle area in southern Lebanon. Israel has controlled this area since late May and reported killing additional Hezbollah militants attempting to exit the tunnels in recent days.

These military developments occurred as President Trump announced that the US and Iran could sign a new agreement on June 14.

According to information posted by President Trump on Truth Social, the agreement is expected to include the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz for international maritime traffic and the establishment of a new framework to restrict Iran's nuclear program.

Trump administration officials stated that the agreement is based on concrete implementation steps and verification mechanisms rather than merely political commitments.

According to sources cited by Israeli media, some Israeli officials have expressed concern that the new agreement could limit Israel's ability to conduct military operations in Lebanon, while also allowing Iran to have economic sanctions eased.

Currently, Iran has not officially disclosed details about the content of the mentioned agreement.
