Wife of late Iranian Supreme Leader dies following airstrikes
Mansoureh Khojasteh, the wife of the late Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, passed away this past Monday. According to reports from Iranian media, she succumbed to severe injuries sustained during the airstrikes targeting her husband's office on Saturday.
Reports indicate that Khojasteh had been in a deep coma since the attack began. These strikes were identified as the opening stages of Operation Epic Fury, a large-scale military operation targeting strategic objectives within Iran.
Khojasteh passed away at the age of 78, concluding more than half a century by the side of the Iranian leader. She married Mr. Khamenei in 1964 and remained his only wife throughout his political career.
Developments regarding Operation Epic Fury
Khamenei was also among dozens of high-ranking Iranian officials killed in the first wave of attacks in the coordinated campaign by the United States and Israel. This assault has caused significant damage to the leadership apparatus in Tehran.
The passing of Khojasteh, combined with the death of her husband, marks a period of extreme volatility in Iranian politics. Currently, the situation in the region remains highly complex as the offensive strikes of the operation continue.
