Tensions in the Middle East have taken a major turn as a US-Israeli coalition executed an airstrike campaign titled “Operation Epic Fury.” According to sources from Reuters, several senior commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and government officials were killed in this large-scale attack.

Direct attack on Tehran's center of power

Iranian sources reported that at least seven missiles directly targeted the fortified complex of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in the capital, Tehran. The simultaneous US and Israeli attack on Iran during this wave demonstrates military coordination at the highest level. Although the attack caused significant casualties among high-ranking officials, 86-year-old Khamenei was confirmed not to be present at the scene and has been moved to a secret secure location.

In addition to political targets, Iranian state media reported that approximately 40 people died after a missile struck a school. However, specific casualty figures have not yet been independently verified, other than reports that the coalition military killed IRGC Commander Mohammad Pakpour along with several other staff officers.

Objectives and scale of the airstrike campaign

Speaking early Saturday morning, President Trump affirmed that the operation targeted Iranian leadership to protect the American people from imminent threats. The full text of President Trump's speech emphasized that the military focused solely on military targets and the Iranian regime's high-level security systems to ensure precision.

Beyond the capital of Tehran, intense airstrikes were also recorded in several other key cities, including Isfahan, Qom, Karaj, and Kermanshah. Currently, the full scale of "Operation Epic Fury" continues to be clarified and updated by relevant parties.

These developments occur amidst rapidly escalating tensions between Iran, the US, and Israel, raising fears of a broader conflict. The international community is closely monitoring the situation as Washington continues to reinforce US forces in the Middle East to prepare for any retaliatory scenarios from Tehran.
