US B-2 Spirit stealth bombers conducted a direct airstrike against Iran's underground ballistic missile facilities, according to defense officials who provided information to FOX.

Four B-2 aircraft performed a round-trip journey from U.S. territory, flying continuously to the target area before returning to their home base. During this operation, the aircraft dropped dozens of 2,000-pound bombs targeting missile sites located deep underground.

Defense sources stated that the targets were heavily fortified strategic ballistic missile facilities, similar to the types of weapons Iran previously used to launch a barrage of ballistic missiles at a U.S. base in Saudi Arabia. The bombs used are capable of penetrating underground structures.

The specific level of damage at the scene has not been released. The Iranian side has not yet issued an official statement regarding the airstrike.

The B-2 strike marks a new escalation in the ongoing military campaign, occurring as U.S. forces in the Middle East stand ready for high-intensity operations at any moment. This action was also mentioned in President Trump's speech regarding long-range strategic airstrike campaigns to hit key targets.

Developments continue to be monitored as many world leaders call for de-escalation to avoid a full-scale war.
